An Open Invitation

The Roundtable is not an incorporated organization, but more of a common forum where active participants and leaders from the various component of the social economy gather and take a systemic approach to supporting and nurturing the social economy in BC. The roundtable model works best when many organizations and individuals interested or active in the social economy are participating, bringing in a variety of lenses, opinions and expertise to the table. Therefore, the invitation to becoming involved in the BCSER is always open.

For more about the BCSER and how it operates, please click here.

British Columbia based organizations and groups are always welcome to become participating organizations of the BCSER in order to help the Roundtable be as reflective as possible of the many components and viewpoints that make up the social economy in BC.

How To Join

If your organization or group would like to become an active participant on the Roundtable, there is an easy two-step process to follow:

  1. Write a letter introducing your organization/group as well as the perspective you hope to add to the BCSER; and
  2. Have a current BCSER participant support your request for participation letter and to introduce it at the next Roundtable meeting.

If you and your organization are interested in joining the BCSER, contact the BCSER Secretariat, who will be able to guide you through the process outlined above.

Active Participation

The Roundtable meets once every two months, with other meetings called as required. Meetings are typically scheduled for the afternoon (usually 1pm to 4pm) on the third Tuesday of the month and take place mainly in the Greater Vancouver area. However, there is a commitment to strategically schedule meetings to coincide with other meetings that may bring representatives of BCSER organizations to the Lower Mainland (such as conferences), to help facilitate participation from outside of the Lower Mainland.

Participants of the Roundtable are expected to:

  1. Participate at the regular meetings;
  2. On occasion host and chair a BCSER meetings;
  3. Participate in task forces and ad hoc working groups that are of interest;
  4. Highlight the social economy and the efforts of the Roundtable through your own networks; and
  5. Support the activities and the Secretariat of the BCSER as appropriate.

If you have any additional questions about participating on the BCSER, please feel free to view the BCSER Terms of Reference or contact us.
