The United Community Services Co-op is owned by over 120 non-profit and community organizations. Founded in 1998, the UCS Co-op is built on the idea that organizations can and should work collaboratively to find solutions for the issues that face the non-profit sector.
The Co-op began when two community practitioners realized that two different agencies had commissioned two nearly identical reports for ten thousand dollars each. Had the two agencies collaborated and each contributed seventy-five hundred dollars, they could have saved some resources, money, and received a better report for a joint fifteen thousand dollar study.
Since that time, the UCS Co-op has operated as a mechanism for supporting community-based organizations in BC to collaborate where there is public good from their joint action.
The UCS Co-op offers products and services that benefit its owner-members, organizational workshops, events to support leadership and innovation initiatives, and consulting services from its Strategic Consulting Partnership. We also conduct research and development of tools on behalf of the sector to ensure its sustainability and vitality. Find out more about our products and services.
